NIT Arunachal Pradesh started shifting to its new permanent campus around 2017. Initially, only the first-year B.Tech students were shifted for classes. By 2018, the new campus was still under construction, and the complete shift was delayed due to heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh, which slowed down the construction work. Eventually, all B.Tech students were moved to the new campus, and GATE students were given access to the B.Tech students' labs.
