Should I join KJ Somaiya College for Computer or take a drop and aim for VJTI?

Well, VJTI is generally considered a better option than KJ Somaiya. Now, whether you should take a drop year really depends on how much that year matters to you.

When you compare KJ Somaiya and VJTI, you'll notice that the top students from KJ Somaiya often get similar opportunities as those from VJTI in terms of placements and further education. For instance, a friend of mine from VJTI got placed in a company that also recruited from KJ Somaiya, and he has several colleagues from KJ Somaiya.

Brand value matters, but after you finish your course, say in about 5 years, where you graduated from—VJTI or KJ Somaiya—won't be a big deal. However, an IIT brand name will always stand out.

My advice? Dropping a year just to get into VJTI might not be worth it. If you're considering a drop, aim for an IIT or IIIT instead.
