Aliah University is a state university that is under the Department of Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Government of West Bengal. The university was established in the year 1780. The university in its present form came into existence in the year 2007. The university is a UGC, AICTE and NCTE approved autonomous institute. It plays a leading role in the advancement of higher education, especially of the Minorities who have, for various historical reasons, remained socially and educationally backward. Aliah University has a decent infrastructure with well-maintained labs and classrooms. The hostels are pretty good and offer a comfortable stay.
